DESCRIPTION: In 1989, the non-profit organization “Slow Food” was founded to counteract fast food and fast life, and bring awareness and solutions to the disappearance of local food traditions. Today, the organization has greatly impacted and increased people’s interest in the food they eat, where it comes from, how it tastes and how our food choices affect the rest of the world. In this hands-on class, based on the bestselling book by Corby Kummer, we will discuss Slow Food, how to become a member and, then, get right into cooking some simple, homespun slow food recipes from chefs around the world. A portion of the proceeds from this class will go to our local Slow Food Reno chapter.
